우리 캠퍼스를 감싸 안고 있는 북한산 국립공원의 신록이 더욱 아름다운 이 계절에 우리대학 동양문화디자인연구소가 주최한 3번째의 한중일 Conference에 참석해주신 내외귀빈 여러분들과 참석자분들께 학교를 대표하여 진심으로 환영하는 바입니다.

특히 멀리 일본과 중국에서 오신 분들을 비롯한 국내외의 Design계를 대표하시는 분들께 깊이 감사드립니다.

우리대학의 동양문화 Design연구소는 한국연구재단의 지원을 받아 2009년부터 해마다 한중일 Design국제 Conference를 개최하면서 동북아시아 지역의 Design문화 창달과 학술교류를 통해 세계 속에 동양문화의 가치와 위상을 확립하고자 하는 노력을 기울여 많은 가시적인 성과를 이룩하고 있습니다. 특히 2010년에는 서울시에서 개최한 서울 Design 한마당의 핵심행사로 부각되면서 한중일 국제 Conference와 함께 국제적인 규모의 '생활문화 Design전'을 성공리에 개최하여 세계적인 주목을 받게 되었습니다.

동양문화디자인연구소가 속한 우리 국민대학교의 조형대학은 40여년의 특화육성을 바탕으로 그 동안 국가와 산업체의 다양한 지원과 협력에 힘입어 이제는 독립된 Design 단과대학으로서 국내는 물론, 국제적인 명성을 쌓아가고 있으며 Design 분야의 글로벌 명문으로 발돋움하고 있습니다.

우리대학은 Design 분야 이외에도 자동차, IT, Nano 등 첨단 과학기술분야와 국제학부 등의 인문계열도 국내외적으로 매우 높이 평가를 받고 있습니다. 이번 국제 Conference를 통해 우리 국민대학의 이러한 여러 명망 있는 분야의 이해도가 국제적으로 증진될 수 있는 기회도 마련되기를 희망합니다.

아무쪼록 이번 국제 Conference의 '풍토' 주제와 관련된 수준 높은 발표와 토론을 통해 아시아의 대표국가인 한국, 중국, 일본의 Design 전문가들이 활발한 정보교환이 이루어져 Design 진흥의 계기가 마련되고, 향후에도 지속적인 상호 발전을 도모할 수 있는 기회가 될 수 있기를 기대합니다.

또한 다음 기회에는 최근 재개관한 우리 대학의 다목적 콘서트홀의 고화질의 영상설비를 활용하여 실시간 화상 Seminar나 Conference를 개최하여 시공간을 뛰어넘는 더욱 시차 없는 학술활동이 전개될 수 있기를 고대합니다.

마지막으로 이번 국제 Conference를 준비해주신 동양문화디자인연구소의 최경란 소장님의 노고를 깊이 치하 드리며, 다시 한 번 저희 국민대학교를 찾아주신 여러분들께 감사드립니다.

Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome all of you to Kookmin University.

I, in behalf of Kookmin University, truly welcome you all the VIPs and attendants of ‘the 3rd International Conference of the Culture and Design of Korea, China and Japan’ hosted by Oriental Culture & Design Center of our university in this season with such beautiful verdure of Bukhan Mountain National Park surrounding our campus. I also thank the professor Young-geol Kwon, Seoul National University and the director general Gyoo-han Bae, National Research Foundation of Korea attending here to celebrate this conference.

I appreciate to the president Kurokawa Masayuki, Kurokawa Architecture Studio, the professor Pang Shai­pung, Tsinghua University, China who has come for presentation in this conference, and the professor Sang-hae Lee, Sungkyunkwan University, the dean Gook-hyun Jung, SADI, the domestic and overseas design field leaders.

The Oriental Culture & Design Center of our university was appointed to the main research center for Na­tional Research Foundation of Korea in 2009. Since then, it has hosted ‘the International Conference of the Culture and Design of Korea, China and Japan’ every year to contribute to engraving the value and posi­tion of the oriental culture into the world by developing local design culture of the northern east Asia and through academic interchange with many remarkable achievements. Especially in 2010, this conference emerged as the core event in the Seoul Design Fair hosted by Seoul City with ‘the International Confer­ence of Korea, China and Japan’ and ‘Living Culture Design Fair’ successfully done in global scale, so that it attracted attention from the global world.

The School of Design, Kookmin University that runs the Oriental Culture & Design Center has been spe­cially brought up for more than 40 years with a variety of supports and partnerships given by the nation and companies. Today, therefore, it is building up its fame both domestically and globally as an independ­ent design school and ready to jump up to a school of global reputation in design field.

Our university is highly recognized both domestically and globally not only in design field but also in high-tech scientific fields such as automobile, IT, Nano and etc, and also in humanity fields centered on our undergraduate international studies and etc. I wish this international conference will also help the world get to know more about our university in such other fields of reputation.

I expect the design experts of Korea, China and Japan, Asia leading countries, to have lively interchange of information through high-level presentations and discussions over the theme of this international con­ference, ‘Climate’, so that they can provide a chance for design promotion and look for continuous mutual growth in the future too.

Next time, in addition, I look forward to real time video seminar or conference without gap of time and space can be run for less time-differential academic activities using HD video facilities in the multi-pur­pose concert hall of our university that has been recently opened.

Finally, deeply appreciating to the president Kyung-ran Choi, Oriental Culture & Design Center for all the efforts of hers to prepare this international conference, I would like to say thank you once again for all of you visiting our Kookmin University.
